Skin Needling with Exceed

Not all microneedling devices are the same.

Exceed is a medical microneedling system designed to provide precise, controlled needle penetration. Its sterile, single-use cartridge contains six needles and the treatment depth can be adjusted up to 1.5 mm, allowing us to tailor treatment to different areas and concerns.

The Exceed system has also been clinically studied for facial wrinkles and acne scarring.

For us, that means Skin Needling isn't about simply treating the entire face at one standard depth.

Your treatment can be adjusted according to the area, your skin and the outcome we're working towards.

Exceed creates controlled microscopic injuries within the skin.

These micro-injuries trigger the body's normal wound-healing process, which involves the formation and remodelling of collagen. Over time, this can improve the appearance of fine lines, acne scars and uneven skin texture.

Because this process takes place gradually, Skin Needling isn't an instant-results treatment. Changes continue to develop as the skin repairs and remodels following treatment.

Although the treatments may look similar, they work very differently.

Skin Needling uses sterile needles to create controlled micro-injuries within the skin. We choose it when collagen remodelling and structural skin changes are the primary goal.

Nano Fusion works much more superficially and does not create the same controlled wound-healing response. We use it when our focus is targeted skin infusion, hydration, texture and overall skin quality without traditional needling.

Neither is automatically better. We select the treatment according to your skin, treatment goals and the level of intervention required.

You can expect to feel the device working across the skin. Treatment intensity varies depending on the area and depth being used.

Some areas of the face are naturally more sensitive than others, and we'll talk you through what to expect before beginning your treatment.

Yes, some social downtime should be expected.

Immediately following Skin Needling, the skin will usually appear pink and may feel warm or sensitive, similar to a moderate sunburn. Dryness or tightness can also occur.

How quickly this settles varies according to treatment intensity and your individual skin response. We'll provide you with specific post-treatment instructions before you leave Pelci.

You can go to work the next day, but expect to be slightly pink.

Skin Needling works through a gradual repair and remodelling process rather than producing an immediate final result.

You may notice improvements in skin texture and quality as your skin recovers, with further changes developing over the following weeks.

For concerns such as acne scarring or more established textural changes, a series of treatments is generally more appropriate than expecting one treatment to produce the full result.

This depends on what we're treating.

Clinical studies of the Exceed system for facial wrinkles and acne scarring have used a course of four treatments approximately four weeks apart.

That doesn't mean every Pelci client automatically needs four treatments. We'll recommend your treatment frequency and number of sessions according to your skin, concern, response to treatment and overall treatment plan.

Skin Needling can be particularly useful for improving the appearance of certain types of atrophic acne scarring and the uneven texture left behind after acne.

Not every acne scar responds in the same way, however. Scar type, depth and tethering matter, which is why we assess your skin before recommending Skin Needling as part of an acne-scar treatment plan.

It depends on the type and extent of the acne.

We generally don't needle directly through active, inflamed or infected lesions. If active acne is the main concern, we may recommend getting the inflammation under better control before moving into treatments focused on scarring and texture.

No. There are circumstances where Skin Needling may need to be postponed or may not be the most appropriate treatment.

This can include active skin infections, significant inflammation, impaired wound healing and certain medications or medical conditions.

We'll assess suitability and discuss relevant medical history, medications and recent treatments before proceeding.

At Pelci, Skin Needling may be used on its own or incorporated into a broader treatment plan. We'll recommend it when the concern we're treating genuinely calls for collagen remodelling rather than simply because it's a more intensive treatment.
